Its my first amp so getting used to it but it does everything I want and its a really good price. For the money I found this to be an amazing amp, great sounds obtainable from the control panel, or delve deeper into the Boss software and sculpt the tone further. I am cautious about continual experimentation for fear of losing the installed firm/software altogether.

But there is always room for improvement: Points are worth a 1p discount for every point you redeem. So once you have chosen your amp sound and set your EQ (Bass, Middle, Treble) you can choose from a number of effects you want to run. Under the effects section there are 5 buttons and 3 knobs. It’s not possible to stop, hold a button for a second and then check that it’s accessing the correct memory bank when you’re playing live. However, as you can see the settings used for any tone with BOSS Tone Studio, you can modify them to suit your guitar and playing style, then save them with your own filename.

Such a huge step up from my 15 year old Fender bedroom amp. Each button will activate the effects type. I struggled to get the sound I wanted but when I plugged it in to the tone studio and adjusted the global EQ the thing came alive. All the essential controls for the amp settings and essential effects parameters can be adjusted with dedicated knobs, and it doesn't take you long to learn some of the more advanced features that the Katana can offer. I could play as badly as I do without the whole shop hearing me !.

It's simple! Top positive review. The Katana 50 appears to be very well engineered and importantly maintains tonal quality even at lower volumes. Great value and very good sound for the money. For now, I am thoroughly enjoying enjoying playing again. If you want a footswitch you can go with the Boss FS-5l, the Boss FS-6 or the Boss FS-7. You can also use Boss Tone Studio to adjust the tones via your PC or Mac.
