I have eagerly been waiting for the last two years for this film to be released, for no reason other than to add it to my collection of Tom Waits featured films.
Jason Statham has become a huge star by making the kinds of movies he wants to go see.
Like watching a PC adventure game e.g. Perhaps that's the only reason why I found it mildly entertaining.

At times its slow, other times silly, but it is always incoherent. Those were Coppola's masterpieces and no one will ever make anything quite like those films.

Plot and setting reminded me of In the mouth of madness as well as Twin Peaks. On his not quite standing room book signing tour, Hall Baltimore(Val Kilmer) comes across a town that is so small that it does not have a bookstore but does have a giant clock with seven faces.
If you're going to watch this movie, it's best to forget who the director is. I must admit this was a tad too mild for me, but I still enjoyed the story a lot. Check box if your review contains spoilers. The incompetent way that Twixt is shot might have been done intentionally by Coppola to match the pulpy B-movie storyline, but the result is laughable. Francis is making a "personal" horror film. From reading other reviews, it's clear that this work doesn't even take a step toward what Coppola is capable of.

Francis, I admire you very much, but this movie sucks. It's an odd little film that goes for a similar 'poetic fairy tale horror' style as Coppola's much more successful "Bram Stoker's Dracula" or Neil Jordan's masterpiece "The Company of Wolves", but only reaches this goal in a few moments. I went into this movie with little expectation, seeing as I've never followed Francis Ford Coppola's work. G. Allen Johnson is a San Francisco Chronicle staff writer. I imagine the only reason these great actors said "Yes" to this was to work with a once great director, ask him stories about the 60s and 70s, and maybe get a case of good wine.
This movie twisted around a sick man's plot to protect orphan children from the vampires that live across the lake from his small town sounds like a plot that would be hard to follow.

Twixt is receiving tormented reviews right now, but I can tell that throughout the years the reviews will get more and more positive.
I just saw it and really liked it despite all the negative things i heard about it. You've been warned. Woody Allen's latest is a wistful hymn to the pull of nostalgia in which aspirant novelist Owen Wilson is transported, on the stroke of midnight, back to 20s Paris, where he has helpful run-ins with iconic artists. But I kept watching because 'hey, you never know'. The plot: A writer on a publicity tour stops in a small town and finds creative inspiration in the mysterious happenings. Not sure it entirely works, but I loved the dream sequences and Elle Fanning in this. While those looking for a few midnight movie scares will find themselves very disappointed, the film is funny, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not.

Well, that's what is going to happen to you if you see this film. Through a series of strange experiences, and lucid fever dreams (a drunken dream inspired the film) he uncovers the dark secrets of the town, meets Poe, and confronts his long buried feelings. The good things are Bruce Dern, Elle Fanning, Alden Ehrenreich, Tom Waits (narration), E.A. The effects look simple.
