This was one of the most picturesque uni pieces I have ever had, with a lovely creaminess that you only taste with high-grade uni. I know that isn't cheap but look....this is a really nice splurge type of restaurant - just go ahead and treat yourself. They then ended up giving him a more generous glass of something else on the house, which was nice. Fifth course: a vegetable jelly dish that tastes WAY BETTER than it sounds or looks. 7th/8th course: the clay pot option this time was a mushroom rice accompanied by pickled cucumbers and miso soup. We've only been inside 2 other restaurants since March, due to covid. There was ample space between guests as well. I wouldn't get the cheaper tiers - I think the $120 offers the best bang for your buck by far.

The service was amazing as was the food. They really need to work on that description because it sounds like a 6/10 when it tastes like a 12/10 - super tender slices of beef in this insanely good gravy. So glad we finally have Japanese fine dining in Indianapolis. However, he really enjoyed it and wanted more. Nakajima and Tanigawa are keen on trumpeting the experience of Japanese cuisine, with more delicate flavors than those found in American cooking. Absolutely remarkable experience. The traditional Japanese tasting courses include an appetizer, simmered dish, sashimi, a season dish, white rice, a grilled course and dessert -- emphasize freshness.

The restaurant does advertise about 2.5 hour dining experience and ours lasted roughly 5 hours, so those needing baby sitters or have tight schedules, you should consider appropriate plans in case dinner time gets extended. The dishes prepared are very traditional and full of delicate, subtle flavors--don't expect anything to be "too salty" or "too sweet" here! Flavor profiles are sophisticated and nuanced. Honestly, I could tell with the service that they are still finding their groove, but the food was spot on! Trying to make these dishes at home can be very time-consuming and you have to buy bunch of different ingredients (while no real promise that it would look/taste legit, haha), so I'm very excited about the addition of this place!
Try this and be prepared to cry tears of joy. The owner is really trying to introduce authentic high end japanese dining to Indianapolis - I highly recommend going NOW (before they realize they can get away with charging a lot more, especially for the alcohol) and while you can still easily snag a reservation! Paired with a Domaine coastal Les truffieres Chablis - a very nice Chablis but wouldn't rank among my favorites for the meal. The staff and kitchen were still working out the pacing and there are some times were we waited ~30 min between courses. We opted for a Japanese Sauvignon blanc from Sonoma by Noria Winery and it was very reasonably priced and paired very nicely with all the courses.
Strongly recomended. Pacing was perfect for a multi-course meal, and the dishes were simply stunning. Superb! I don't know what they did to the tomato but vegetable dishes really don't get any better than this. Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. It was just the right amount of acidity to be relieved of the richness of the tenderloin with a mild grip from the tannins. It's that good. Your trust is our top concern, so businesses can't pay to alter or remove their reviews. Come and experience our prix fixe menus! You definitely leave feeling full! But they didn't even offer that. Amazing meal! The experience typically lasts about two and a half hours. Definitely a place to go for special occasions, the preset menu and wine pairings were very thoughtfully arranged and made for one of the most enjoyable evenings I've had in a while. Everyone working was wearing a mask & the servers were also wearing face guards & gloves. Wonderful restaurant. OpenTable is part of Booking Holdings, the world leader in online travel and related services. We had the pleasure of dining here less than a week after their opening and it was amazing. If you decide to park there, the pay is going to be around $12 since the meal will last at least 2.5 hours. I wish I can dine and delight myself here everyday! Seasonal kaiseki dishes including an assortment of fresh, high quality sashimi. They didn't have the first sake my husband ordered. Everything exceeded my expectations.I will definitely go back after they've been open for a while & hopefully experience smoother service & maybe more drink options. The cocktail menu ($8-$12) also pulls from Japanwith offerings like the spiced pear Manhattan and a martini made with Junmai Daiginjo sake. It just melts in your mouth...like as if I was eating foie gras. Mr. Tanigawa is quiet, humble and very interesting to talk to.This is going to be a restaurant that specializes in "Kaiseki Ryori"--or authentic full-course Japanese dining experience. We enjoyed the music selection. Our bartender served one of the best cocktails in town. We were never offered the option. At first, if you don't know what you're missing, it seems silly to pay so much for something you normally pay a lot less for, but once you try it you realize WOW where have you been all my life - THIS IS TOTALLY WORTH IT!! One other interesting note is that they carry wines from a Sonoma winery (Naria) where the winemaker is Japanese and he has tailored the profile of his wines to be friendly with Japanese cuisine. There were three dining options: $69, $89, and $120. Again, the staff was professional and friendly. Highly recommend! Once we were seated, the staff members were hospitable once again. Excellent! Just split it with your dining partner and enjoy both! He was professional and squeezed us in since we only had a party of two. I wish we got a spoon to enjoy more of the delicious broth! First course: 5 bites of appetizer plate paired with a Schramsberg blanc de blanc. This includes info about cleaning, sanitizing, social distancing, and usage of personal protective equipment.
