Many of the comments on this wonderful film -- which I cannot watch without crying, or even describe the plot to other people without choking up -- talk about how sad, & in one case even "depressing", the film is. there was a girl who lived on this planet that was from a planet that had a sun. | And I'm so glad it still a very interesting story. I knew it had to be sci-fi but never would have guessed to think of Bradbury doing it. There's a definite spiritual relevance right now in our current times...should you choose to watch this beautiful piece, if you can find it. I would love to see it again!
i felt so sorry for margot and the cruelty she endured. the girl who gets locked in the closet isnt mean, shes an earthling who moved to mars and is the only one who has ever seen the sun because the other kids arent old enough to have seen it. I am very excited to finally know the name of this movie and am now going to start searching for this movie. "All Summer in a Day" faithfully follows Ray Bradbury's short story. As soon as I discovered that so many other people had similar memories & have been leading a desperate search to find this film, I began a search of my own. . I submit to in suggestions that the planet became Venus and that the girl became from Earth and remembered sunshine whilst each and all of the others interior the class did no longer. We never forgot this movie, the overwhelming compassion and shared empathy for the main character's devasting loss. I clearly remember watching this on PBS when I was a boy, and being horribly depressed by it. I happened to watch this for the first time on Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. and, during the time she was locked in, the sun came out and the rain stopped. (1982– ).

I saw this beautiful, heart-breaking movie on HBO decades ago. i forget what its called, but we read the short story in english class back in 7th grade. my first childhood memory is of this movie, A difficult, challenging movie, more for adults, A teacher and former student of the great BRADBURY. I agree with one commentee on the fact that the scene after the rain stops is quite dramatic. Apparently its about some kids that are possibly in an orphanage and the sun only comes out once a year and the kids go out and play, except for one really mean kid that gets locked up for that one particular sunny day. Favorite Answer. The acting by the children was wonderful, and it makes the viewer feel with the children in the story what it is like to experience something new for the very first time. It was just coincidence, but it was very fitting considering the themes in this story. Images from the movie are emblazoned on my brain, despite the fact that I didn't even know what the movie was called until I looked it up just now. There are countless rain scenes from different movies that any cinephile can name without even thinking about it; the famous dance scene from “Singing in the Rain”, the phone booth scene from “Say Anything”, the village shoot-out scene from “Saving Private Ryan”, the kiss scene from “The Notebook”, the famous scene from “The Shawshank Redemption” where Tim Robbins breaks out … one day this mean little boy locked her in a closet. It is a touching story and I can't believe anyone who watches it can keep a dry eye at the end. I saw this movie when I was little and I have never, ever forgotten it.
